Resident jobs split three ways at the top: 3,779 in health care and social assistance (15.2%), 3,570 in accommodation and food services (14.4%) and 2,940 in education (11.8%). Customer behavior
Renters search on phones and call directly. 53.7% of households rent, against 38% typical, and 15.5% of homes are held for seasonal or occasional use, compared with 0.3% for the typical Texas city. Visit Galveston's 2024 report counts roughly 4,900 registered vacation rentals, so guests search for groceries, repairs and meals from the rental. Call-first ad formats and a visible phone number suit that behavior better than a form that asks for a long message.
Resident buyers are price-aware. Median household income is $57,453 against $76,686 for the typical city in this set, 19.2% of residents live below the poverty line and unemployment is 6.8%. At the same time 19.1% of residents are 65 or older and only 15.6% are under 18. Ads for clinics, pharmacies and home-care services reach a mature audience that reads details, so landing pages should show accepted insurance, hours and a clear address.
The calendar shapes the budget on an island where Moody Gardens and the cruise terminals fill on schedule. Visit Galveston's 2024 annual report says Hurricane Beryl struck in July 2024, during the peak summer season, and disrupted businesses, and that hotel occupancy tax revenue fell to 27 million dollars from 30.2 million the year before.
