Get results in days, not monthsResults in days, not monthsThe myth says a campaign aimed at "Dallas" reaches Dallas. What it really does is drop a pin on 339.7 square miles of districts that behave like separate towns: Uptown professionals, Oak Cliff families, Medical District staff and the late crowd in Deep Ellum. Someone in Lower Greenville and someone near Love Field can type the same words and want completely different things, so one broad campaign serves neither well.
A GetPhound plan builds Google Ads campaigns by district and by hour around places like Downtown Dallas and the Dallas Design District, with a landing page for each service, call and form tracking, and a monthly report from a dedicated account manager. Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) and Bing Ads join in when they fit the goal. Plans renew every month, with no setup fee and no contract.

City Ad Competition Index
71.4/ 100
Rank 28 out of 203 in Texas
Figures: ACS 2018-2022, Census population estimates, County Business Patterns 2022. A bar places Dallas among the 203 Texas cities in this set and nowhere else. How it is scored: methodology. As of October 2026.
Location settings
Paid search lets you choose where your ads appear, down to a radius around a single address, so the district map matters more than the city limits, and Bishop Arts District shows why. These nine places came from our research and would guide ad groups, location exclusions and landing pages.
| Place | Targeting notes |
|---|---|
| Downtown Dallas | Eight named districts sit inside the freeway loop, so a tight radius with weekday hours fits lunch, office and convention services better than a citywide setting. |
| Uptown | A dense district with McKinney Avenue as its spine, where a small radius and mobile-first ads suit restaurants, salons and apartment services. |
| Deep Ellum | A live-music district east of downtown, where evening and weekend schedules and a clear open-late message matter more than daytime impressions. |
| Bishop Arts District | Independent shops and cafes in north Oak Cliff make a natural small-radius ad group with walking-distance wording. |
| Oak Cliff | Annexed in 1903 and still named by residents, it deserves its own campaign with Jefferson Boulevard and neighborhood names in the ad text. |
| Dallas Design District | Showrooms and galleries just northwest of downtown suit trade-focused ads aimed at designers, installers and movers rather than general shoppers. |
| Lower Greenville | The Greenville Avenue strip around the Granada Theater is a good place for evening-event ads with exact dates and hours. |
| Fair Park | A 277-acre landmark where the State Fair of Texas runs for 24 days, so ad budgets for food, parking and lodging can be concentrated into that window. |
| Southwestern Medical District | About 1,000 acres of clinics and hospitals, a good fit for call-focused ads from pharmacies, lodging and quick-service restaurants. |
Each place name is informal, taken from municipal, county or regional publications.
Customer behavior
Housing explains much of the pace. In Dallas 58.1% of households rent, against 38% in the typical Texas city in our set, and the median rent is $1,305. Renters often search when something breaks or a lease changes, so the best ad copy states how fast someone can arrive and puts a tap-to-call button first. A homeowner may research for a week, while a tenant with a lockout calls the first reasonable result.
Language is a practical targeting choice. Spanish is spoken at home by 36.4% of residents (typical: 17.9%), and 23.8% were born outside the United States (typical: 12%). Ads and landing pages written natively in Spanish can reach people who never click an English result, and Google Ads lets you set the language of the audience separately from the location. Each version needs its own phone script, since a Spanish ad that routes to an English-only voicemail wastes the click.
Income and age shape what an ad should promise. Median household income is $63,985 against $76,686, the median age is 33.1 against 35.2 and the median home value is $270,700 against $246,300. Searchers tend to be price-aware and mobile, so ads that state what is included, how an estimate works and when someone can come beat clever slogans. The city's density of 3,829 residents per square mile (typical: 1,923) means a small radius still covers many potential customers.
Hours matter as much as places. Only 11.9% of workers work from home (typical: 9.5%) and 14.9% commute 45 minutes or longer, so many callers are at a desk or in a car when they search. Ad schedules can lean toward the lunch hour, the evening and the weekend for consumer services, and toward weekday mornings for businesses selling to other companies. Call tracking shows which hours produce real conversations, so the schedule can tighten over the first months.
What the plan emphasizes
Separate budgets and pages
Uptown, Oak Cliff and the Southwestern Medical District get their own campaigns, ad text and landing pages. Each reports separately, so you can see which district produces calls and move the budget accordingly.
Tap-to-call and call tracking
For lockouts, pest control and repairs, ads lead with a phone number and an arrival promise you can keep. Call tracking records which searches, hours and districts lead to answered calls, which matters in a city where 58.1% of households rent.
Own copy, own phone script
Because 36.4% of residents speak Spanish at home, separate ad groups run in Spanish with their own landing pages. A bilingual person answers or returns the calls, so the ad's promise holds up on the phone.
State Fair and weekend nights
The State Fair of Texas runs 24 days at Fair Park, and Deep Ellum fills on weekend nights. Budgets are paced to those windows, with tight radii and extended hours, instead of spread evenly across the month.
Filter out the wrong clicks
In a city with Dallas County's 2,179 law offices and 1,492 dentists, general terms attract students, job seekers and researchers. Negative keywords screen out searches that never become customers, and landing pages speak to one service at a time.
Reach before and beyond search
Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) can reach Oak Cliff or Uptown households before they search, and Bing Ads add a second source of search traffic. Each channel reports separately, so spending follows the customers it brings.
Because the city behaves like a cluster of markets, from Uptown to the Southwestern Medical District, the structure of the account matters more than any single ad. These are the pieces we would build first, each tied to a number or district above.
Buyers and advertisers
Dallas County's advertisers are numerous and mostly small. Across the twelve advertising-heavy categories we track, the county has 11,998 establishments, 46 for every ten thousand residents, and 80.9% of them are small. These are county figures, not Dallas-only counts. For a small advertiser the lesson is that broad terms are contested, so sharper location settings, one-service landing pages and tight negative keywords carry more weight than extra budget.
Some categories are especially crowded. The county has 2,179 law offices (2.91 times the density of a typical county), 2,181 physicians' offices, 1,492 dentists and 1,265 real estate agents and brokers, a count that grew 31.4%. A practice in one of those fields does better advertising a specific service in a specific district, such as a pediatric dentist near the Southwestern Medical District, than competing for the general term.
Dallas is also a buyer city. Of the 23 Fortune 500 companies in the metroplex, 11 are inside the city limits, and Southwest Airlines is based at Dallas Love Field. Corporate buyers, from consulting and finance firms in Uptown to AT&T's downtown headquarters, search for catering, transportation, print and event space with a deadline, and they often use a desktop in an office. Ads for those services should send them to a page that lists capacity, lead times and a short quote request, instead of a general homepage.
Local workforce
Sector mix says something about budgets and daily routines. The six biggest sectors for employed Dallas residents are listed below.
| Sector | Share of employed residents |
|---|---|
| Health care and social assistance | 11.1% |
| Construction | 10.6% |
| Professional, scientific and technical services | 10.4% |
| Retail trade | 10.3% |
| Accommodation and food services | 7.5% |
| Manufacturing | 7.2% |

The competing advertisers
County is as small as the Census gets for these counts, so each row covers Dallas County, not Dallas alone. Compare each density with the median U.S. county, where 1.0x is typical and 2.0x is double.

Monthly and flat: one platform runs $895, two cost $1,595 and all three come to $2,295. Nothing is signed. The platforms bill your click budget separately, and we size it from what a customer is worth to you. Each plan is laid out above, and the pricing page adds the details.
Some campaigns produce calls the day they go live, particularly urgent services where customers search at the moment of need, whether in Oak Cliff or Downtown Dallas. Others take two to four weeks to settle as the account learns which searches and hours convert. No lead count is promised, and each month's report lists the calls, forms and search terms behind the results.
The budget starts with your own economics for a district such as Deep Ellum: what a customer is worth, how often a lead becomes a sale and how many jobs you can handle. In a city of so many districts, we then divide it by district and by hour so each campaign has enough to learn. The final figure is set with you, and you can change it any month.
Google Ads usually comes first for services people search for when they need them, such as a locksmith or a dentist near Uptown. Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) suit promotions, events and reaching households before they search. We track both so spending moves toward whichever produces customers.
Yes, with a tight radius and weekday schedules. At UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital, staff and visitors search for lunch, parking, lodging and pharmacies near the district's roughly 1,000 acres. Ads can feature the walking distance, and call tracking shows whether the hours you chose bring answered calls.
State the date, the time and what makes the night worth the trip, and send people to a page that answers parking and entry questions. Wikipedia notes that city officials chose in July 2025 to stop car traffic on Deep Ellum's streets at 10 p.m. on weekends, so access instructions are worth including.
They need a Spanish landing page, though not necessarily a whole second site. With 36.4% of Dallas residents speaking Spanish at home, a dedicated page for each advertised service, plus a bilingual way to reach you by phone or text, keeps the promise of the ad intact. We start with the services that bring the most calls.
They can be, if the campaign is narrow. Dallas County has 2,179 law offices, so broad terms are contested. A campaign for one practice area in one district, with a page for that service and a clear contact form, lets you learn quickly from real calls whether the channel suits the firm.
Sponsored, labeled ads now appear for some people on ChatGPT's free and lower-priced plans, and advertisers buy them in OpenAI's own self-serve ad manager. Targeting is by country or topic, not by keyword, and measurement is young, and that argues for a small experiment, not a core budget. Google Ads stays the usual first move; we can talk it over when you are weighing a ChatGPT test.
